Make it vegan by using oat, almond or soy milk.
This recipe was inspired by a the Caribbean Sea Moss Punch, which is consumed as a refreshing and nutritious drink, thought to help overall health and digestion. Our spin on it, makes it a great alternative to the traditional eggnog.

Ingredients
-
¼ Cup, packed Irish Moss whole leaf (7g)
1 Cup Water
2 Cups Milk of choice
⅓ Cup Honey or Sugar, to taste
½ tsp Vanilla Extract
½ tsp Ground Nutmeg
½ tsp Ground Cinnamon
½ Cup Ice
Directions
Make the Irish Moss Gel
Place Irish Moss in a bowl of water, unfurl the fronds and remove debris, drain the water out and refresh it
Continue to wash the Moss in fresh changes of water until it is free of shells or other seaweeds
Bring 1 Cup of water to a boil and add the washed Moss, allow to cook about 10 minutes
Remove the mixture from heat and allow to cool and form a gel, about 30-45 minutes
Transfer the gel to a clean jar and store in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months
Make the Nog Drink
Put 4 T of the Irish Moss Gel in a blender with the remaining ingredients
Blend until smooth, about 1-2 minutes
Pour into 4 separate glasses over additional ice
Sprinkle each glass with more Nutmeg, if desired
Optional: garnish with a piece of rehydrated Moss or a Cinnamon stick
Recipe Note
To spread extra cheer, add 4-6oz bourbon, rum, or brandy to the blender after the mixture is smooth and blend again. Cheers!
