Ingredients
-
28 oz Canned Whole Peeled Tomatoes, chopped and not drained
-
12 oz Canned Tomato Paste
-
Yellow Onion, 1/2 of a large, chopped
-
8 oz Baby Bella Mushrooms, sliced
-
2 T Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-
Garlic, 3 cloves, chopped
-
Fresh Basil, handful, chopped
-
2 Bay Leaves
-
1 tsp Oregano
-
1 tsp Dulse Garlic Sea Seasonings
-
1, 2” Strip Alaria or Kelp, snipped into pieces
Directions
Heat the oil in a large sauce pan and add the onion
Cook until translucent
Add all the mushrooms, seaweed pieces, and all the seasonings
Stir frequently and add water or the juice from the tomatoes to prevent sticking
When the onion and garlic are soft and the mixture fragrant, add the tomatoes and paste
Allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes
Add liquid as necessary
Recipe Note
This will make a very thick sauce. If a juicier sauce is preferred, add tomato juice, water, or red wine to desired consistency. Serve over pasta, gnocchi, polenta, or roasted veggies. Enjoy!
