This is primarily an in-person job; with the exception of events or trade-shows.
The following we anticipate to be about 30 hrs to start, full time (37-40 hrs) would be reached by assisting with other business needs based on the candidates experience or skills.
A successful candidate is curious and interested in a blend of sales and education; selling seaweed requires listening to what the customer is looking for while understanding it is often not exactly what they ask for.
The right candidate will both manage existing customers and work to foster new relationships and leads to grow this sector of the business, in conjunction with management and MCSV Strategic Plan.
Cross training to cover sales/customer service positions of other customer groups or physically filling ingredients customer orders will be required.
The right candidate will have patience & humor, an aptitude for problem solving and understanding of what it means to be or work for a small business
Required skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND three years related experience in sales, customer service, food production, or food safety
- Ability to travel, in state and out-of-state a few times per year
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivated. Must be able to track multiple quotes, orders, and inquiries in various stages of completeness.
- Clear, concise communication skills & listening.
- Strong computer proficiency with experience using excel files and other productivity software
- Experience navigating regulatory framework (Organic, FDA or similar)
Desirable:
- Knowledge of seaweed, natural foods and nutrition
- Experience using ERP software such as Acumatica or similar resource management software
- Understanding of food safety regulations and the regulatory environment
- A drive to find new customers and collaborations that meet MCSV goals; curiosity and questioning how to improve systems and customer experience while protecting MCSV.
- Outgoing, sales-oriented individual with genuine interest in meeting customer needs while understanding limits of materials and information available.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and collaborative. This position works with a number of other team members to ensure the best outcome for customer and company alike
